Welcome to AskAmanda.com
Congratulations on taking the first step to improving your relationships and your life. It can be scary and embarrassing to admit we need help, but it is often the strongest people who reach out for advice and counsel.
My work with individuals and couples is deeply rooted in Terry Real's Relational Life Therapy. This theory helps clients learn healthy self-esteem and good boundaries, while tackling unhealthy grandiosity and toxic shame. It is helpful in treating depression, anxiety, addictions, anger management, and a whole host of relationship difficulties.
If you are in a relationship, I prefer to work with you and your partner. We do not replay the same fight you've had for years - you can do that in your sleep! My job is to help you repair the rift and teach you the tools to live more harmoniously. Often, our deepest work is in the presence of our partner, and the net effect is increased passion, understanding, and intimacy.
What can you expect if you work with me? A hands-on, warmly therapeutic experience with a new breed of clinician. I do not stay outside and above your problems - I become your relationship coach and take sides on issues when necessary. For couples, I meet less often but work deeply and quickly. Our initial three-hour session will help you determine if your relationship can be restored, and the strengths and weaknesses within it. Future couples sessions are 90-minutes, every other week. We focus on learning and practicing the skills necessary to alter your ingrained, dysfunctional, and painful dance.
Love and mutual respect can flourish again. Relationships can be saved, even after deep pain and betrayal.
Join me in creating a legacy for yourself and your family by learning - once and for all - how to have a respectful, connected, and loving relationship.
I hope to hear from you soon.
